Rating:1 We tentatively stopped here after 80 miles of cycling looking for a camping spot, we asked a resident who said we should be ok as long as we kept away from the CL. Reception was closed so we quietly pitched on an unused patch of grass away from other site users and relaxed knowing we could sort in the morning. At 8.30pm we were told to leave as no tents allowed. I’m ok with that rule, but at 8.30pm it was too late to find another site so we had to ride another 2 hours to find a discreet wild camping spot. No compassion shown by site manager at all. A real shame, our tent is 2mx1m. Hardly a marquee.

Rating:5 Fantastic spot… absolutely love it. Great walks, good pubs, nice food. Relax on beautiful canal stroll into Whaley Bridge or with the station a stones throw away, you can enjoy ride to Buxton for the day.

Rating:5 Great peaceful place that has a nature reserve (great views) that eventually leads to Millennium Walkway. If you continue with the canal on your left. You’ll eventually reach a small bridge, turn right down the dirt track, continue straight ahead for around half a mile on the road and you will eventually see a sign (across the road) pointing you towards Millennium Way if doing a circular walk from the New Mills train station car park
