Moderation Policy

At ReviewsBritain we have systems in place to automatically check the authenticity of reviews. In addition, each review is manually assessed. To prevent your review from being removed after it has been published, we ask you to follow a set procedure. This allows us to maintain the high quality of our platform and provide consumers with genuine and valuable reviews. As a completely independent platform, we have no interest in promoting either positive or negative reviews. We see no reason to distort the reality of the businesses featured. Businesses cannot pay for additional benefits or moderate their own reviews. We do not offer the ability to delete or change reviews for a fee, ensuring that our review site remains authentic and independent, providing the most trustworthy view of the businesses featured. This benefits both the reviewers and the readers of the reviews and evaluations.

What we do:
For authors on our platform and the businesses we feature, we operate several systems to further verify the authenticity and reliability of our reviews. When writing a review, the author must confirm that it is based on a real experience. We take this very seriously. If a review is found to be false, despite the author’s agreement, they will be banned from sharing their experience on our platform. We may request additional information about a review by email if we have doubts about its authenticity. If we do not receive a response within 7 days, or if convincing substantiation is not provided, the review may be removed from our platform.

We do not operate a closed-loop system. This means that not only customers who have made a purchase can write a review about a business. We believe this method can encourage abuse and does not provide a comprehensive picture. In addition, reviews from consumers who have not yet made a purchase can also be valuable, for example when receiving a quote or experiencing customer service in a store.

In addition to these checks, we implement various automated verification systems, such as detecting multiple reviews from the same person in a short period of time, the use of spoofed emails, or suspicious activity from the same IP address. Every review is also manually reviewed by a moderator. Unlike many platforms, we do not edit reviews, as we believe this would not be authentic. A review will be published as it was written or removed entirely if it does not meet all requirements. We do not quarantine reviews if they meet our terms of use.

A business’s overall review rating is the sum of all reviews divided by the number of reviews. For example, if a business has two reviews, one with 2 stars (4/10) and one with 5 stars (10/10), the rating would be 3.5 stars (7/10).

What you can do:
If you want to report a review, use the contact form on this website and the review will be assessed according to our guidelines and checked for authenticity. You can also use this form if you want to remove a review you have written. Make sure you use the same email address you used to write the review, as we will send you a confirmation to prevent abuse.

Business verification: Due to regulations, it may be necessary for businesses to verify reviews themselves. We strongly support this. As not all customers of a business automatically receive an invitation on our platform, the volume of reviews tends to be much lower than on paid platforms. This means that reviews are actually read and therefore of real value to your business. You can request to be notified when a new review is posted. Every review is reviewed in the way described above. If you still have doubts about the authenticity of a review after you have checked it yourself, you can report it using the contact form. We will then evaluate the review, request additional evidence from the author if necessary, and decide whether to remove the review.

Note: If a business is repeatedly found to be abusing the platform, a notification may be posted on the business’s page or the business may be removed. We take the authenticity of reviews on our platform very seriously and ask businesses to do the same.
