We came in with our daughter who had a minor injury. We were in and out in 3 hours, armed with some solid advice. The staff we spoke with were helpful, polite and obviously working hard.

The new pediatric a&e was much better than being bunged in with adult a&e patients, and we were helped in a reasonable time so overall, I was happy and thankful for the service received here, and I think it’s a shame a lot of people seem to have had bad experiences here.

My friend(86)was admitted to A&E last Thursday with a fractured pelvis. Its now Tuesday and is still there. Admittedly she is in a room but there is NO hot water she hasn’t had a wash or shower for 4 days which in turn is upsetting her as she is starting to smell. I am furious. She is in bed staring at 4 walls. Apparently they are waiting for a bed on a ward. The last straw for me was when she told me she was in agony. The physio she saw in the morning told her she needed something like oremorph 3 times a day. She hadn’t had any. This was 3.30 in the afternoon. I’m afraid I “kicked off”eventually a nurse came to give her her pain relief and a strip wash. Have just rung her it’s 9.30, no pain relief yet today. I am so so thoroughly disgusted !!!!!!

my friend got mugged at 3am last month and the ambulance service was lovely. but we arrived to a&e at 4am due to him being struck and a nasty bump on his head. got checked over briefly a few times but didn’t get out until 1pm due to them forgetting to do a test! they were confused why we were waiting too until one nurse finally asked us.

some staff seemed rather impatient too since my friend is autistic and kept asking loads of questions and i ended up trying to calm him down by explaining what the staff meant when they started talking about certain scans

My son is in the middle of treatment at this fantastic hospital. We cannot fault the service we have received- every appointment, test and scan he has had has been scheduled within 2 or 3 days and although we were told results might take up to 2 weeks we have received them within days. Staff have been friendly and caring. As his mum I have been so impressed. Thank you Northampton General.
