A nice small theater, 85 seater. The PlayHouse Theatre shows some great shows, well worth a visit, also run by friendly people.

Arriving at the venue for the performance the outside is dark and appeared closed on trying the doors it was in fact open but talking with other audience members I was not the only one to initially think it was closed.

Inside the bar area seemed quite pleasant I did not stop to order drinks as an accident on M1 meant I was arriving late. In the auditorium area the heating was cranked up to very high levels to the point of being uncomfortable. At a general admission show I would recommend arriving early and taking a seat at the front or at the back if you have better eyesight than me but to avoid the middle. With appropriate seats it seemed like a venue that would receive at least 4 stars but the heavily obscured view from my own seat le...

The stairs to the Theatre are steep but there is a chair lift. That said I was pleasantly surprised to find there was a warm cozy bar area and the wine I purchased was perfectly chilled even if there was little to no choice, but what more can you expect from such a small concern. The door staff, ticket office and bar staff were all friendly in a way that made you feel instantly at home. The play ‘A Christmas Carol ‘ was certainly a fun rendition of the original but one part stood out and I have recounted it to friends and family. It was when Bob Cratchet sat with a book talking to Tinny Tim who had died. This small speak was amazingly rendered and in that moment it was easy to forget it was a play, the emotion was so very real. The Gentleman playing this part deserved a st...
