Apparently the sale was at the beginning of March, so the timing was bad, but there were still plenty of my size 6.5 available.
For Japanese sizes, it seems that stock of sizes 6 and under is quite limited. 6.5-7.5 is reasonable, and anything higher than that means there is a lot of production and plenty of inventory.
Most boots are £625, shoes are £500.
Sale items were even cheaper, but most of these were sizes 8 and up.
I was guided around by a man who probably worked at the factory, and he gave me a detailed explanation of fittings, lasts, models, and inventory, so I felt more hospitable than at other factories.

You can buy shoes for as little as 350 pounds, which is considerably cheaper than buying them in Japan. I just buy slightly more expensive shoes at Isetan.
