Truly wonderful collection, spanning Europe and Asia from very early history to date.

One of the best parts is just losing yourself in one of areas as you explore. Quite big space but set into intimate rooms by type, era and location.

Free entry, but make sure you make a donation to help it’s upkeep.

I visited the Ashmolean to study the sacred Stradivarius guitar. The experience was memorable and the museum and staff were superb. Apart from the guitar there are too many priceless masterpieces to list, but here are some of my favourites in the photos attached

Outstanding free museum for all ages. Much calmer than any of the London museums and packed full of beautiful objects. We could have spent an entire day in here happily. All the objects are really clearly labelled and explained. This makes such a difference. Fantastic experience all round ages 9-51

Amazing museum with artifacts from around the world. Saw Japanese samurai armour and weapons, ancient coins and jewelry, Egyptian mummies, huge clay pottery, renowned paintings. Not enough time to see everything

This was one of the most amazing museums I have been in. It was so incredibly diverse and had such wonderful exhibits! Everything from paintings to ancient Egyptian statues to costumes. I loved everything I saw. Unfortunately, I could only spend a few hours here but I really want to come back and see more.

A great museum that’s full of all sorts of artefacts from around the world. Free to enter most of the galleries. Lots of guides and activities going on. A good shop and cafe. It can get very busy and popular but there are always places you can find away from the crowds.

Completely free museum with exhibits spanning the globe. You’ll see mummy’s, cast replicas of Roman and Greek statues, Asian bronze work, and so much more.

One of the gems of Oxford on my day trip to the college town.

Generally a nice place to have a wonder for a few hours, taking in some art and history and doing some sketching. Like most places of this ilk it closes too early and you have to pay £1 for the lockers, which you can get a token for from the shop. The Flemish section is my favourite as there are some hidden gems in there.

Huge collection of artefacts including some paintings although the only paintings I spotted of note were a couple of Canaletto’s.

Entry is free, the gift shop is large and as with all museums expensive.

Very worth a visit and extremely interesting.

Great way to spend an afternoon at the museum. Also a really cool cafe on the rooftop with a modest selection of food and drink, including a really decent afternoon tea with a vegan option! I’m impressed.
