An unexpected turn happened the day before christmas last year (2023) where my partner lost his sister unexpectedly leaving behind 5 children and a brother. Kim and Craig were called straight away and came to us in no time at all to help us. They done an amazing job looking after our Nicola from being very peaceful in there Chapel of Rest, to having her “Gypo” hair bun, her pink flashy nails and put in her usual council estate clothes. The hearse, car and service was gorgeous couldnt have gone any better throughout the entire time from start to finish, from Nickies beloved home with her 2 youngest children that she just moved into, all the way to Sandwell Crem, all funeral directors looked lovely and smart, and the service went as smooth as possible. Couldnt thank Kim and Craig enough for everything they did to give our Nicola the best send off! Thank you so much for your service. ❤️ xx

I recently lost my son aged 40 following illness. I knew I didn’t want a franchise company, but didn’t know of any reliable independent funeral directors. I was given the name of Hughes funeral directors and oh my goodness what a find you all were. Every member of the team I met were polite, professional, caring and patient.
I wanted to be able to cut my son’s hair and give him a shave, this was something I was unable to do whilst he was in hospital due to all the machines and tubes. Kim made this happen. She was with me throughout the process to help and guide. We had my son’s favourite music playing in the background.
On the day of the funeral, we were given time to approach the cars to view flowers, and have a moment with my son’s photograph before we set off. Craig noticed one of my son’s friends were extremely distressed and approached him to also come to the car to look at flowers and say a private g...

It has taken me quite a while to figure out what to put in this review because I am literally lost for words over how wonderful these people are.
For context, I lost my mom to cancer. I am only 23 and had no idea how to plan a funeral. From the offset, Craig and Kim were so honest and understanding about absolutely everything. When I first spoke to Craig about my situation, he didn’t try to sell me a package deal or any gimmicks, instead he offered to speak to me in-person (that same day) to figure out the best bespoke plan for my mom, myself and my family. I was amazed and that level of care, decency, respect and empathy never faltered once since meeting them. And I need to be very clear about this: THEY DID NOT SKIMP ON ANYTHING.
My mom passed away in the early hours of the morning and yet Kim and Craig met us in the home, no questions asked, within the hour. Even at 4am they were so considerate. ...

I have never arranged a funeral before and I initially thought of the large franchise funeral directors. However, I knew this was something I would not be happy with. I was unaware of other funeral directors and remained in limbo until a friend highly recommended Kim and Craig Hughes through personal experience.
I visited them twice with my friend, armed with a list of questions that were important for me and my father. I was not interested in the latest limousines or plush offices. My main concern was that my father would remain in the direct care of the funeral director and not stored elsewhere away from the premises.

Craig and Kimberly Hughes are simply wonderful. They took my stepmother into their loving care, liaised with alsolute professionalism and ease over all details.
They prepared her so beautifully for viewing and have such a gorgeous and peaceful Chapel of Rest. If anyone holds a plan with one of the ‘big ones’, that dominate the funerary industry- think again! Hell, I’m in my early 30s and intend on using a plan with this ‘mama and papa family firm!’ We couldn’t have asked for a better service. The team they have, the bearers and drivers, backing them up are brilliant too! I seriously have nothing bad to say, and I can be a tough reviewer!
They helped made this awful time more bearable- easier in fact! I’m sorry to say I’ve had a hand in arranging 3 funerals now. And these guys are beyond amazing and I can see them now going from strength to strength. Brava, bravo and...
