In my life I have had the pleasure of staying in some quite interesting places, from bivouacs and lean to’s to tents and barns but they all seem like the Ritz compared to this place. Where should I start, check in was fine and although the lift wasn’t working and the corridor decor was looking tired I thought the room couldn’t be that bad, how wrong I was. From the constant drone of an industrial extraction unit directly outside my room, a shower that has 2 settings – off and shot blast, peeling paint and a bed so lumpy you can feel every spring to WiFi that doesn’t work this room is horrendous. Sleep has avoided me so for the first night due to the constant droning, which feels like the audible equivalent of Chinese water torture. Only one more night to go although I may end up spending that sleeping in the car at this rate. The only saving grace is the bar is nice, has a good selection of drinks and food. Top tip: pay an extra 15-20 quid and stay at the Premier Inn up the road...

Dreary. We had to pay an extra £10 to park car in hotel car park (apparently unless you book directly you have to pay). The hotel is shabby- decor dreadful. Heaven knows who chose the colours and wallpaper. Bedroom was average. Again no imagination or love gone into decor or furnishings. Double bed (not king) which is usual nowadays. It was clean though. Receptionist not really interested. Lift not working and quite a lot of dreary stairs and corridors to reach room. Won’t be going back.

Some of the rooms are a bit dated but overall a nice place to stay. My room had a bath and a shower and also a 32-inch tv mounted to the wall.
The food is top tier with plenty to choose from, so I would highly recommend eating here.

This could be the worst hotel in Britain and I’d still come back, just because Nikki on reception is the most wonderful person I’ve ever met! Nikki is so welcoming and just couldn’t do enough to help me. I am genuinely in awe of how lovely she is and polite and professional. This was my first visit here and it won’t be my last ,just due to the first impression I’ve had here. If all the staff were like this the world would be a happier and better place. Well done Nikki you are amazing at your job! Thank you for making my state a memorable one xx
