Van broke down.. was told it was take up to 5 days to be recovered! Because it’s over 100 miles from my home. 10 days later got the van back, I requested loss of earnings and offered me £10 per day not including weekends! Don’t use them!

9 Hours at the side of the road is simply unacceptable. RAC putting profits before patrol numbers and simply don’t have enough people to man the phones let alone actually attend. Seems good value for money until you actually need them.

RAC refused to recover my car claiming it was not covered for recovery in flooding when it was….
On January 2nd I ended up stalling in flood water due on my way back home from work. I had already been driving an hour and a half trying to find a way home when I got stranded. We had severe rain and flooding that day and I was not aware of the increasing rain and flooding going on as I worked, the roads were clear on the way in.
I called RAC and they told me that I was not covered for flooding. I said I would pay any extra charges as I was stranded in the dark alone in the rain, and they said “that won’t help you now”. They transferred me to my insurance company but I couldn’t get through as it was all automated and the robot couldn’t hear me when I answered the questions and then they ended up transferring me back to RAC! I ended up having to call for recovery myself and had to pay £400 quid total. I got home hours later drenched and miserable, and whe...

Broke down and received a text giving me an estimate for arrival of roadside service. Kept getting texts to say they were exceptionally busy (Monday night… right) but to check tracker. Tracker never changed despite repeated texts telling me they were still busy. Called, was told I would be called to give me an estimate as online tracker was broken. Waited 45 mins, no call. Called again and new person told me they couldn’t actually give me an estimate but at least three to four hours delay (obviously knowing that would turn into 10-12 hours). When challenged said couldn’t say but would be at least 3-4 hours parrot fashion. Why do I pay for this ‘service’ again? Why do RAC operators lie to customers? Why can’t they provide a service any more? When asked this, one operator told me it’s because the owners don’t spend any money.

Shockingly Terrible service. My car won’t start (battery issues) and RAC originally sent a message saying expect an engineer in the next 30-45 minutes. It’s now been three hours and still waiting with no sign of help. I Always used to be with AA and on the odd occasion that I had to call them they were out within an hour. Reading everyone else’s reviews I am not alone, the RAC simply doesn’t have enough technicians on the road. The RAC are quick to take your money but then leave you stranded. I can safely say that I will not be renewing my membership and if anyone does actually read this review all I can say is save yourself the hassle of having to deal with this company as they will let you down when you need them. Reading other people’s reviews who have had the misfortune to have to rely on this company, it doesn’t matter if it’s summer, winter, spring or autumn, you will be left waiting for hours. WOW, it’s now been 4 hours and they have phoned to say they can’t get to us today ! T...
