Showing 5 reviews Rating:4 Undercliffe cemetery in Bradford is an incredible example of the Victorian obsession with death. This is not in any way to trivialise the grief and loss of a loved one, but Undercliffe cemetery shows the great divide even in Death between the rich and the poor. It is a stunning place to visit some of the monuments and Tombs are architecturally breathtaking, a fantastic monument to the stonemasons art and they must have been hugely expensive when built. A cemetery is on a hill with fantastic views over Bradford may seem an odd place to visit but it is well worth it.

Rating:5 I went on a tour around the cemetery ran by the volunteers. The volunteers were informative, helpful and their passion for the heritage and preservation of the grounds is amazing. I look forward to attending another tour next year.

Rating:5 I love everything about this place. I appreciate that a cemetery may not be for everyone but if architecture and local history is of interest then this relatively unique place has it in spades.

Rating:5 Such a nice place to walk around. So much history, very peaceful. It’s great looking at the grandeur of the many stones and tombs from the Victorian era. A particular favourite of mine is the tomb belonging to the Illingworths. The place is in need of a little work but I suppose… who’s going to pay for it? There are two car parks at either end of the cemetery.
