I worked here for a year having got the job after an interview process where the other candidate didn’t show up. I was told that my temp contract was not being renewed because the school didn’t need physics teachers at the time.
This is a shame because as a physics graduate, and the only female one teaching physics there at the time, this may have increased the number of girls opting for A Level Physics at the academy over time.
Or it might not have done but one of reasons I was inspired to study Physics at university is because having been taught by female Physics teachers and working with several female peers in physics lessons as far back as the 90s in Manchester, I never viewed it as a subject that girls don’t do, which is statistically the case in the present day.
I went on to teach in other academies and grammar schools in Bradford and Leeds and from what i have noticed, there are very few female physics degree holders and teachers if any in some schools apart...

i would literally rather make nike tracksuits in Asia for 2 pounds a day than go to this school. id rather watch paint dry than be in 90 percent of the lessons there in all honesty. most of the teachers dont care about you at all and only go there to receive a fat pay check and go home. teachers literally spend more time shouting at kids and dishing out corrections than actually providing a good education. lets not mention how easy it is to get detentions too. you could literally turn up with a ring that isnt plain or looking at the time and just like that youve earned yourself 20 minutes after school. The corrections supposedly is time to reflect on what you have done but more than half the time you got a p2 for your pen running out. most if not all aspects of this school are absolutely diabolical and i do not recommend unless you want your child to face crippling depression and coming back home for lunch with the biggest frown on their face. in this school you have two options. mess ...

this school is the literal definition of depression. Being a student you can definitely take my word. The second you walk through the doors your smile just fades away thinking about the shambolic day youre about to have. The teachers hardly even care about you and all they care about is following the pride rules and keeping the schools reputation high. The behaviour system is absolutely ridiculous as you could get 20 minutes after school for simply turning around to check the time or running out of ink in a pen. id say the only positive about this school is that the education is some what good however even that needs change because of how unbelievably boring it is. if i could give a minus star review i would. overall id say that if you want your child to be suicidal, send your child here.

I am a former student at this school. by all means some aspects of the school are brilliant however some are abysmal. In my last year of high school a new principal arrived making the school a hell. He provided us little support and gave us a huge work load. he didn’t care about any students mental well being he was more interested in the image of the school. it was more like what could the students do for the school not what the school could do for us. Then there was drama, The drama teacher didn’t believe in many of the students. I entered this school through a performing arts place which is only awarded to 10% of the students. What was once my favourite subject turned into my worse, the lack of support from her was so bad. She didn’t believe in me at all.

All in all, the school is very good. The teachers quickly and effectively deal with bullying very quickly. I went to this school and the teachers are very good. The departments for core subjects (science, english and maths) are extremely effective with science being the best in my opinion. They recommend very good sites like “hegarty maths” “maths genie”and “my gcse science”. You have great teachers like Mr Karlin, Mr Ahmed and Mr Thacker just to give a few names. The school is very aesthetically pleasing. The atmosphere is very uplifting and the headteacher including most of the teachers genuinely care about the students. The education here is pretty good with teachers providing useful resources. They shouldn’t of shut down their sixth form though, as all the people that are at Dixons Sixth form that previously went here are missing the place in terms of education.
